UPDATE FROM THE PRESIDENT (August 2022)
Hello KRS players and teams,
Well, we are 2/3 of the way through the season for the 30s and 45s and just about to hit the playoffs for the open. I want to give a huge shout out to the President’s Cup winners this year…
Excel FC – Open
Bailey’s Pub – 30+
Piva Financial – 45+
…and the Open division regular season champs Excel FC!
The last 2 years in the 30’s, a team that missed the playoffs the year before have gone on to win the President’s Cup trophy the year after, just proving how important the draft is. Next year, I have a plan to have the trophies handed out after the cups are won, instead of at the end of the year, I will go over all of that at our AGM.
Some exciting times in the Open division as we have had a number of very competitive games this year, and I am looking forward to catching some of the playoff action. The final this year will be at Singh 6:00pm Thursday the 25th of August. I encourage the Open guys (and other league members) to come out and watch it, we order some pizzas/beer and have a trophy presentation after!
I want to thank our Executive again for all the hard work they are putting in behind the scenes. There has been a lot of chaos with the city, fields, and weather. I applaud them for the action they have taken to keep everything running as smoothly as possible. Remember communication is key, please reach out with any questions or concerns (please make sure it is passed through your team rep first as they might have more information for you).
I also want to thank the team reps/players as we had a much smoother portion of the season when it came to discipline, but we are still seeing a few to many cards when it comes to dissent. We are still working with the Ref association to work on allocations, standards, and professionalism. It is important that we return the favor. Team reps, please make sure to look at your yellow card count, there are a number of players on two yellows and it is your responsibility to know when someone is to miss a game (after 3 yellows). https://www.kamloopsrecsoccer.org/bookings-discipline/
I think that is all for me for now, we are looking forward to seeing if Baileys can hold on to 1stin the 30’s, and watching the incredible battle for 1stin the 45s. Enjoy the rest of summer, remember games start going back to 6:00 very soon, see ya on the pitch!
Cheers
Kirk
